Preparing
for the Interview
Strong job interviewing
skills do not come naturally! A successful interview takes
practice. Always remember to bring a positive attitude into
every aspect of the job interviews you are seeking. After
all, you're trying to convince the prospective employer
to invest in you!
Practice your
interviewing skills ahead of time. The more comfortable
you are with your answers, the more self-confidence and
professionalism you will; demonstrate to your new employer!
To prepare
for potential interview questions, think about and write
out the following highlights:
- My strongest
skills
- My greatest
areas of knowledge
- My best personality
traits
- Things I
do best
- My key accomplishments
- Where I can
use improvement
Do a test interview
with a friend so that you can be better prepared! Have your
friend point out any bad habits such as slouching or avoiding
eye contact. And avoid saying 'you know' to a potential
employer.
Be prepared
to answer questions like these:
- Tell me about
yourself.
- How does
your education equip you for this job?
- Why do you
want to work for us?
- Why do you
feel qualified for this position?
- Why should
we hire you?
- What are
your short/long term goals?
- Where do
you see yourself in five years?
- What did
you like best/least about your last job?
- What are
your greatest strengths/weaknesses?
- What things
are most important to you in a job?
- What subjects
did you enjoy most/least in school and why?
- What type
of work environment do you prefer?
- Do you prefer
working alone or as part of a team and why?
- What would
you describe as your greatest achievement to date?
- Describe
occasions when you have demonstrated initiative.
- What are
your personal interests?
- Extracurricular
activities?
- Do you have
any questions about our company?

answer these questions confidently and smoothly will you
